7-11 Dilemma

Every once in a while I get a sudden hanker'n for a Slurpee at work. Love those suckers. So I decide to look up where the closest 7-11 is:

Is there something wrong with this picture?? I know for a fact that Fullterton hits 638.... I'm going to put my foot down and say "no" to MapQuest's recommended route. Godspeed, Jennifer, Godspeed....

*NOTE: Mission success! It took me 2 minutes to get to 7-11. Ha, I'm an every-day compass.

My Field Trip

HI FROM OCEAN CITY!

Ha, gotcha didn't I?

So guess where lil ol 10101 go to go today. Hint: House. White. THAT'S RIGHT you Einsteins! I went to the White House! Me and 149 other Lockheed ppl went to knock on Dubya's door. If you'll remember, I've been to see the White House before with Stepho--but it was very anticlimactic. This time it was different--I got to go inside.

So I've been here in for a little more than 4 months. I'm STILL having trouble with the beloved Metro. Gosh, I hate it how I ALWAYS look like a tourist when I go into the city. Two mistakes today:
1) I have a SmarTrip card that automatically deducts money from my account--makes things go faster--OR SO I THOUGHT! Here I am walking nochallontly to the entrance gates. I'm cool, I've been living here for a while--I mean, I DO have a SmarTrip card...heh heh.... I take out my card and wave it at the gate--it doesn't open for me. I wave it again--doesn't open. [Starting to get red.] A station guard comes over and points me to a disk located on the side of the gate (labeled "place SMARTRIP card here"). [Now beet red.] "Ohh, thanks," I say. In my defense, I went through the handicap entrance and in all other regular gates, the SmarTrip disk is located where I originally waved my card!
2) I think I might have skipped out on my Metro payment to White House. I was waiting in line to exit the gates at the Federal Triangle stop with a few other Lockheed people. Once again, I pull out my trusty "I'm a local" SmarTrip card. The guy in front of me sticks his ticket in (Ha! Puuulease, he has to use a TICKET? Definately a tourist, psshhh). Before waiting for the gate to close, I wave my card (in the CORRECT place) and walked through. I hear a piercing beep. Was I supposed to let the gates close first before waving my card??? Did I just ride the Metro without paying??? Am I a FELON??!!! I was so conscious about where to place my card, that screwed up again! Needless to say, I took off.

Oh wait, one more mistake.
3) When I got back to the Springfield station parking garage, guess what was on my car.... JUST GUESS...a TICKET! Ha! My state inspection ticket expired just last month. These cops are RUTHLESS here!

Hahaha, the point of my entry today was to talk about my White House trip. So here's my take: It was anticlimactic again!! What's up with the Casa Blanca and it's disappointments? We only got to see a small portion of the house--none of the West Wing. All the rooms were beautiful and the history was great--but I wanted to see more. I thought there would be a guide--but it was all self-guided. Just in case you care, my favorite room is the Green Room.

No pictures this time--but I did add a quiz to the right.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Money is the root of all evil.

On another note...I thought it was WEDNESDAY--but it's not. I spent last night thinking, "Man! It feels like tomorrow's Thursday." Then again this morning I was like, "Gosh, it's only Wednesday? The week is going by SO slow." LO AND BEHOLD--my computer at work states that it's Thursday. I can't remember what I did on Tuesday!!I'm still not sure if it's really Thursday....

I think I have an eye infection. I asked some people last night if it looked like pink eye--but they don't think so. Just to proove his certainty, Glen rubbed HIS eye after rubbing mine. Stupid? Yes. Is the eye supposed to be itchy with pink eye--cause my eye doesn't itch. DON'T TELL MY OPTOMETRIST...he'll scold me for sure.

Lastly, I had another super outing last weekend at the Frontline Beach Retreat. Though the retreat was good--NO MORE OCEAN CITY. My weekly visits to the great city must end here. Thank you Alex for driving and allowing me to take multiple naps in your car. Good times at the retreat--I met some cool people and the speaker was great. It happened to be BIKE WEEK as well, so all these bikers were roaming around with their Harleys...nice. I think I fit in just fine sitting in Alex's Accord knitting. Commentary on retreat below.

Back from Camping

Hidee hoo! I just want to say...I GOT DARKER! I know some people are going to look at the photos and say, "No you didn't!"--Don't make me bust out my tan lines for PROOF! Sooooo, I spent Labor Day weekend camping near Ocean City, MD. I'm glad I went 'cause I met all these cool people. My favorite part of the trip? JAY CHOU--could we listen to any more JAY CHOU?? Click below for some commentary.

Guess what? I will be returning to the sun rays this weekend again. I'm going back to Ocean City for a church retreat. My Polish Ice is waiting for me...so is the EL TORO! I haven't settled on a church yet. I've been going to a *cough*Koreanfjawfa;e church and a big big church called Frontline (who's retreat I'm attending). It's really tough figuring out where I belong and which church to permanently attend. We'll see how it goes.... The good thing is that I've been hearing terrific sermons from both churches and the worship has been awesome.

Oh yeah, i just wanted to note that the whole West Nile thing was a false alarm. There were no mosquitoes to be found...living in Texas has made me all paranoid.

How's work? Well, work is...[Jennifer falls asleep...ZZZZZZZZZZZ...]

No, but seriously, work is getting better. I just started taking some classes at the University of Maryland. I'm going for a Masters in Software Engineer and Lockheed's going to pick up the tab (: On top of that, I've found a new hobby for work--CROSSWORD PUZZLES! I have a strategy. If I'm not sure about an answer, I jot it on the side. So basically, all the action goes on to the side of the crossword hahaha. Strategy #2? I have little "helpers" named dictionary.com and google. Don't tell me I'm cheating...cause I'm NOT!

Ok that's all for now. I don't wanna get all sappy and crap--but I miss my WASH U ACF family! Hope you're not slacking off already--and boys, LAY OFF those freshmen girls...hahaha.
